SOLAR ECLIPSE MAPS
Solar Eclipse Interactive Maps: A Trio of Eclipses in Spain (2026-2028)
This interactive, web-based application allows users to explore the dynamics of the three consecutive total and annular solar eclipses that will cross Spain between 2026 and 2028. Developed with Earth Engine and the geemeeus library, the simulator provides real-time data on the path of totality, local circumstances, and environmental conditions.
Key Features:
Dynamic Visualization: Displays the umbra, penumbra, and terminator path overlaid with high-resolution topographic models and historical cloud data.
Local Circumstances: Calculates elevation, local eclipse times, and visibility profiles from any point selected on the map.
Scientific Accuracy: Incorporates algorithms based on Jean Meeus, Bessel's classical eclipse projection methods, and Fred Espenak’s canons.
Interactive Controls: Toggle layers to see topography, historical climatology, and celestial trajectory in real time.
Perfect for educators, researchers, and astronomy enthusiasts to prepare and analyze these upcoming celestial events in the Iberian Peninsula.
